Our team brings together faculty, Ph.D. and master's students, alumni, and collaborators working on visual coding, quality assessment, point cloud processing, and intelligent media applications.
Ph.D. Students
Zhixiang Zeng's research interests include 3D Gaussian Splatting representation and coding, point cloud registration and compression, and generative AI for multimedia applications.
Zhixiang Zeng has led one national and two provincial undergraduate innovation projects, as well as one Climbing Program project. He holds several granted patents and has published in Pattern Recognition.

Xiaoqi Wang's research focuses on machine vision-oriented quality assessment and optimization. He has published five papers in journals and conferences including IEEE TMM, ACM TOMM and ACM MM.
Xiaoqi Wang has received provincial and national awards in mathematical modeling competitions and the Outstanding Master's Thesis Award from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

Master Students
Siyan Wu received his bachelor's degree from the School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University. He has received a Third-Class Scholarship at SYSU. His research focuses on the enhancement and upsampling of 3D point cloud quality, and his work has been published in an EI conference.

Yong You received his bachelor's degree from Soochow University and won a Silver Award in the Challenge Cup Entrepreneurship Competition and Meritorious Winner in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling. His current research focuses on neural video coding.

Junqi Liu received his bachelor's degree from the School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University. Junqi Liu has received a First-Class Scholarship at SYSU and awards in the Asia-Pacific Mathematical Contest in Modeling. His research focuses on just-recognizable distortion prediction and coding applications for machine vision, with work published in TMM.

Lewen Fan received her bachelor's degree from the School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University. Lewen Fan has received a First-Class Scholarship at SYSU and a First Prize in a mathematical modeling competition. Her research focuses on perceptual coding for 3D point clouds, with papers published in TIP and EI-indexed conferences.

Qinhao Huang received his bachelor's degree from the School of Information Engineering, Guangdong University of Technology. His research focused on deep learning-based video compression, and Qinhao Huang published two EI-indexed papers.
Zhiwei Guo received his bachelor's degree from Shandong University. His research focused on deep learning-based point cloud compression, with work published in TCSVT and TBC.
